Balloon Project: Michaela and Lauren

Michaela and I did an experiment on how far a balloon would travel when carrying different weighted objects. We had a pencil, gummy bears, and a tennis ball. When we tied the objects to the balloon we gave that 1 object 3 trials. Each trial was different, but most remained in about the same distances. Some, though, had big differences in the distances, due to the balloon either popping or deflating. In the project I learned that the balloon traveled the farthest when it carried the pencil.  The distances that the balloon traveled depended on the mass of each separate object. I wish we could’ve taken the experiment to different levels, by using more objects to have the balloon carry.  If I had to fix anything, it would most likely be to have more independent variables, and or add another independent variable. Which, would be to have the balloon in different rooms with different lengthened ropes. If we had the balloon in different rooms and have the rope at different lengths, then that would replace the 3 trials we had in the same room at the same length. We decided to do this experiment not only to be entertaining, but to also test our hypothesis on our Spring Project.
