A Gift from Heaven

Hear my mother’s voice in the morning telling me to get up for school, my dad cheering me on at the softball games. O, how I treasure my sense of hearing. Life Hear my mother’s voice in the morning telling me to get up for school, my dad cheering me on at the softball games. O, how I treasure my sense of hearing. Life without hearing is like pancakes without syrup. It is a diving deep thought to imagine living deaf. I feel sorry for the deaf people out there not being able to hear their family’s encouragement, or their new child’s cry from birth. My life without hearing would be a hard life to live. I can’t imagine coming home and not hearing my sweet dog’s bark welcoming me home. I treasure this gifted sense of mine, because some people have to struggle through life without hearing. It’s like every sound I hear makes me feel different emotions. My dad’s voice encourages me to be a better person. Mom’s voice comforts me when life brings me down. Even little siblings can change your day with just one phrase. Luke (my little brother) is a hard one to live with, but he seems to understand that living with me isn’t easy either. I would die if I couldn’t hear his pacing laughter, or his hushed tone voice. I am very thankful for this sense of mine. I know that some people may choose touch, taste, sight, or smell, but like the reasons I gave above it would just take my heart away not to be able to hear. Whether it’s a friend’s encouragement, or a family member’s comfort hearing is my life’s million dollars. without hearing is like pancakes without syrup.
